Yes. LVT is one form of luxury vinyl flooring (LVF), and the other form is plank (LVP). While the plank is most commonly associated with hardwood, there's no rule as to which form you can use when and where, and some people use plank for their stone and tile mimics for the larger format and fewer seams. So feel free to mix it up when you're considering luxury vinyl in Houston for your flooring remodel.
What is LVF?
Whether you choose a tile or plank, you'll be sure of getting a 100% waterproof and highly durable product with vibrant and accurate nature-inspired images. Created with high-definition photography, you'll see knots, swirls, grains, veining variations, brilliant colors, and exciting patterns.
Micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured looks such as wire-bushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed, while finishes come in matte, gloss, and high-gloss colors. For added realism, there's the design option of the material being cut into squares, which can be used with or without grout or boards where the vinyl is first cut into strips and then placed.
Kid, pet-friendly, and anywhere you need extra durability
Made of multiple layers, this is five times thicker than original vinyl flooring and, at the very top, is a thick, transparent, melamine wear layer that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. Authentic luxury vinyl should be at least 8-mm, with the wear layer separate at 20-mils. Composed of entirely waterproof materials, this can be underwater for hours or spilled on; wipe, and it'll be fine.
It's all easy to care for with just a regular sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner required. Installation can be glued or installed as a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, and hover without nails or glue; subfloors need to be clean, dry, and level.
